Qatar and Saudi Arabia have committed to enhancing their economic, trade, and industrial ties through the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. This initiative aims to boost bilateral trade, support private-sector businesses, and deepen economic integration between the two nations.
In recent discussions, senior officials from both countries reviewed the progress of ongoing joint initiatives and explored strategies for increasing trade. The two sides reported that trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia reached approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, marking a 36 percent increase from the previous year. Moreover, in the first quarter of 2026, bilateral trade grew by around 18 percent, surpassing the countries’ 15 percent target. Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia accounted for over $1.42 billion, with more than 977 Saudi companies currently operating in Qatar.
The discussions also focused on facilitating import and export processes, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, improving supply-chain integration, and expanding financial cooperation. Both countries are considering measures to address and reduce trade barriers to make business operations smoother for companies in both markets.
A key topic of discussion was the preparation for launching a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy, which will outline priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of their economic partnership. This strategy aims to further consolidate economic and industrial cooperation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
In their commitment to fostering stronger ties, both nations emphasized the importance of completing agreed initiatives and addressing any remaining trade challenges. This collaborative effort is seen as a crucial step to promote greater economic and industrial integration in the region.
