In a bid to bolster economic and trade ties, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, the First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, recently engaged in discussions with Nguyen Huy Hiep, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar. The meeting, held at the chamber’s headquarters in Lusail, focused on enhancing collaboration between the private sectors of Qatar and Vietnam, as well as exploring new avenues for investment and key sectors for future cooperation.
Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and joint investment ventures between businesses in both nations. He also commended Vietnam for its robust economic growth, indicating support for projects that could benefit both economies. This aligns with Qatar’s broader strategy to diversify its economic partnerships and identify new opportunities for its private sector.
Highlighting Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic ties with Qatar, Ambassador Nguyen noted that bilateral trade between the two countries surpassed $860 million in 2024. This figure reflects a significant increase of $100 million from the previous year, underscoring the growing economic interdependence. The ambassador urged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in sectors like agriculture, food processing, and halal products, which present promising prospects for growth.
Ambassador Nguyen also emphasized the strategic role of Qatar Chamber in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal products within the Qatari market. To further this engagement, he invited Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to participate in the upcoming Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled for next September in Ho Chi Minh City, this annual event serves as a major global platform for sourcing, exports, and supply chain collaboration, drawing international companies and industry leaders from diverse sectors such as food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
The discussions between Al Kuwari and Ambassador Nguyen signal a mutual commitment to strengthening economic ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
