Qatar has taken part in the 31st ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee, held in Manama, Bahrain. The meeting is a significant step in enhancing regional cooperation on critical issues such as electricity interconnectivity and water security among member states.
Leading Qatar’s delegation was Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs. The discussions at the meeting focused on addressing the challenges of rising energy demand and the need for strengthened collaboration on electricity and water security across GCC countries.
Participants reviewed the progress made since the previous session, emphasizing the importance of greater coordination to tackle regional challenges effectively. The committee underscored the need for a cohesive approach to improve regional electricity interconnectivity, which is vital for meeting the increasing energy demands of the GCC countries.
The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts and commitments of the member states to work together in the energy and water sectors. By fostering enhanced cooperation, the GCC aims to ensure sustainable development and security for the region.
