Vietnam’s strengthening ties with Qatar are poised to enhance economic opportunities and foster international cooperation, as evidenced by the recent National Day celebration in Doha. The event underscored the expanding partnership between the two nations, highlighting sectors such as trade, energy, and investment as areas primed for growth.
The celebration, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, drew senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, reflecting the high level of engagement between the countries. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep emphasized the importance of peace, dialogue, and cooperation as foundational elements of this growing relationship.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, Vietnam and Qatar have broadened their collaboration across various sectors, including aviation, agriculture, healthcare, and telecommunications. This diversification of interests has been accompanied by a significant rise in economic interactions, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025.
High-level exchanges have continued to bolster this relationship, most notably with the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a commitment to further strengthening their bilateral cooperation, seeking to capitalize on the increased business engagement and investment opportunities that have emerged.
As Vietnam and Qatar look to the future, their collaboration is anticipated to expand further, offering mutual benefits in terms of economic development and international partnerships.
