Qatar Showcases Health Tech Advancements at GCC Meetings in Bahrain

Qatar recently took part in pivotal meetings aimed at enhancing health collaboration within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The 89th Gulf Health Council meeting, alongside the 12th GCC Health Ministers’ Committee meeting, convened in Manama, Bahrain. Leading Qatar’s delegation was the Minister of Public Health, Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud. These gatherings were pivotal in discussing strategies to bolster health sector cooperation across GCC nations.

A significant focus of the meetings was the review of the Gulf Health Council’s budget for 2027 and the planned initiatives leading up to 2030. The discussions delved into the council’s action plan for 2026–2030, highlighting the need for strategic planning and resource allocation to meet future health challenges.

Health ministers from the GCC also explored strategic decisions crucial to the region, particularly those concerning the storage of food, medicines, and other essential supplies. Furthermore, they examined protocols for health examinations of expatriate workers, which are vital for maintaining public health standards across the member countries.

Another critical topic on the agenda was the Gulf Strategy for Combating Drugs, set for 2025–2028. This initiative underscores the region’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues. In addition, plans for establishing a Gulf Centre for Food Risk Assessment were discussed, aiming to ensure food safety and risk management in the region.

The meetings also reviewed the implementation of decisions made at the previous GCC Health Ministers’ Committee meeting, assessing progress and identifying areas needing further attention. These discussions are integral to maintaining and improving health standards and cooperation among GCC nations.
