This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The talks took place in Cairo, coinciding with the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The meeting highlighted significant growth in the economic relationship between the two nations, marked by an impressive 80 percent increase in trade by the year 2025. Both parties acknowledged the expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, notably a pivotal sustainable aviation fuel production project located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Discussions also extended to labor and consular cooperation, reflecting a shared interest in enhancing the welfare of citizens residing in each other’s countries. The dialogue underscored the necessity of ongoing coordination regarding the situation in Gaza and reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to seeking diplomatic resolutions to regional disputes.
Furthermore, Qatar and Egypt underscored the critical importance of maritime security and the unimpeded freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. This focus is essential for safeguarding international trade routes and ensuring regional stability.
